The Graduate Association of Visual Anthropology (GAVA) at Temple University presents the seventh annual Visual Culture conference, hosted by the Columbia College school of film & video. This year’s conference features a panel discussion with faculty, graduates, and students about the current state and future directions of the anthropology of visual communication. The conference also presents visually-based student work engaged in the field of visual anthropology, as well as the work of locally-based documentary filmmakers.

The Visual Culture conference is an annual forum offering students the opportunity to present work that explores the possibilities of the anthropology of visual communication. The conference encourages anthropologically-informed work that engages in visual and experimental forms of presentation, including film/video, photography, web-based & new media, performance, and the plastic arts.
