2025 SVA Anti-Bias & Anti-Racist Film & Media Grant

Film and media provide powerful tools to confront, examine, and better understand issues of bias and racism. The Society for Visual Anthropology invites anthropological filmmakers and media creators to submit proposals for the Anti-Bias and Anti-Racist Film and Media Grant. This funding opportunity supports projects that directly engage with issues of prejudice and racism and/or envision an anti-racist and anti-biased world.

This grant encourages innovative projects that take creative or methodological risks in exploring racism, bias, and other forms of oppression and discrimination. We recognize that such work may yield unpredictable results and welcome proposals that pursue new or experimental approaches.

Applicants may submit budgets up to $1000 to be used within one year from the acceptance date. The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2025 and applicants will be informed of acceptance by early March 2026.

To apply, email your proposal (as a single PDF) to societyforvisualanthroprez@gmail.com
(please write “2025 SVA ABAR award submission - your full name” in the Subject line)
